Philosophy
of Education
I
believe students learn through hands on experiences, open discussions and
creative activities in an environment that is supportive and positive. I will utilize all of these avenues in order
to make my classroom a place filled with interest and learning by developing
creative lessons and hands on activities. I recognize each student is a unique
individual with his own learning style and attitude towards education. To understand my students and identify how
they learn, I will make certain to observe every student, speak with him, and
listen to him in order to evaluate what is necessary for me, as an educator, to
enhance learning in my classroom and interest in lessons.
I strongly
believe that all children have the right to learn and the ability to
succeed. As an educator, it is my sole
responsibility to know my students and diagnose their strengths and
weaknesses. I must use this information
to tailor a curriculum that fits each of their needs while allowing them to
discover new ways of thinking and unknown traits about themselves. I will inspire my students to set their
achievement bar high and understand that there is no limit to what they can
accomplish. I will do this by providing
support and being someone on whom they can rely. It is essential that I engage my students in
the lessons that I have methodically planned.
Within my lessons will be questions from each level of Bloom’s taxonomy
to bring my students to a higher level of thinking and learning. It is also my responsibility to be a positive
role model inside and outside of the classroom.
It is imperative for all teachers to
encompass effective classroom management.
Classroom management is vital in creating an environment conducive to
learning. The practice of good classroom
management provides students with structure, reduces classroom disruptions, and
helps to form responsible students. When
students know what to expect, teachers are able to guide through their lessons
smoothly, allowing more time for students to absorb knowledge without wasted
minutes. I will create classroom
management by establishing rules, procedures, and routines starting the first
week of school. I will be firm, fair,
and consistent with my consequences which will result in a classroom of mutual
respect. My classroom will be a safe and
organized environment for students in which my students will feel comfortable. Classroom
management is necessary to create an environment conducive to learning.
